Africa Bioethics Network promotes human rights and human dignity in all aspects of life with general benefits of the African society, as well as for specific intellectual purposes. The network works with academics across the world who have similar goals and ideals, to promote quality life and research to alleviate the ethical challenges of our world, especially as applied to Africa.
The Global Health Network (TGHN) is a community actively connecting research organisations, teams, policymakers and healthcare workers to enable research by sharing knowledge and methods. It has, at its core, a vast digital platform for knowledge sharing and building partnerships, with diverse knowledge hubs for the specific needs of researchers. In efforts to push the agenda of improving health research capacity with a shift of leadership to the Global South, The Global Health Network has established three regional knowledge hubs - Asia, Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean. The African regional hub aims to bring health research ability and activities to every healthcare setting in Africa.
The Global Health Network offers self learning courses designed to be self-administered. Every course’s curriculum is written to be widely applicable, across diseases and geographies. Each course is carefully researched to provide high-quality material that is peer reviewed and regularly updated. A certificate is issued once a minimum of 80% is achieved in the course quizzes.
In collaboration with TGHN, the African Bioethics Network will soon launch a set of eLearning courses on Ethics in Research, covering a wide range of topics including "Sex and Gender considerations in research", designed to train researchers in the different ethical aspects to consider when planning or conducting research.
The African Journal of Bioethics (AJB) aims to encourage pan-African harmonization in pertinent bioethical issues affecting Africa, enhance the standards of experimental and observational research ethics in the African continent and promote robust discussions on emerging bioethical issues. The journal especially welcomes and encourages submissions regarding the topics of medical care ethics, health systems ethics, research ethics, sex and gender perspectives in bioethics, queer bioethics, human rights and human dignity in healthcare and research, ethical challenges in research and healthcare, ethics of healthcare and research with vulnerable populations, emerging issues in bioethics, and bioethics and the COVID-19 pandemic.
